Depending on the version being upgraded and the amount & quality of data in the Maximo Environment different methods of Upgrading might be used. Clients typically use the IBM Upgrade Utilities, or they Implement a new Maximo Environment and then import the existing data from their current maximo System. The Lynx consultant will review the pros and cons on each method then work with the client to build an upgrade strategy that will be the most efficient method for the client.
The Lynx consultant will work with client to review upgrade considerations. Depending on what version of Maximo is being upgraded different Upgrade Roadmaps will be used. The processes include applying fix packs, latest hotfixes, and applying Maximo Base Services. Once the IBM Utilities Guide is followed the existing Maximo Environment and data will be in the latest version of Maximo.
Depending on the Version being upgraded and the amount of data that needs to be moved into the new version sometimes it is more efficient to Install a New Version of Maximo then import all the Supporting and Transactional Data from the original system. This is typically done with the data is of poor quality and needs to be cleansed before it goes into the New Maximo Environment. The Lynx Consultant will work with the client to build a roadmap and project plan to implement the New Maximo Environment. Lynx uses a wide range of tools to manually load the data and the customer will decide what method will be used.
